A Red Hook Homer is the debut concept album from Christie and Carl Jr. presenting a laid-back contemporary remake of the Homeric epics in aural bites and sonic glimpses. In 13 tracks, the artists fuse alternative rock, beats and vibey hip hop into a sonic quilt with whole tracks serving as refrains and choruses within the narrative of the album. Although intended as a thematic 30-minute journey, “A Red Hook Homer” doesn’t neglect immediate gratification––the tracks “Mansion,” A Red Hook Homer” and “Smashy City” stand alone as complete, satisfying singles.
